When/where: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at BBVA Compass Stadium

TV/Radio: KUBE-57/650 AM (English); 1010 AM (Spanish)

Dynamo form (10-10-9, 38 pts): L-D-L-L-D

LA Galaxy form (7-17-6, 21 pts): W-D-L-L-L

Dynamo update: They speak highly of last weekend’s draw against New York City FC, but the finishing problems linger. In the two scoreless games that preceded Saturday, they did not create as many chances as they normally do. They created more on Saturday but scored on only one of them. If the Dynamo do not get back on track at home this week, they’re likely to miss the playoffs.

LA Galaxy introduction: The MLS powerhouse started poorly but picked it up in the form of an eight-game unbeaten streak. That’s when the bottom fell out. They fired coach Curt Onalfo in June and replaced him with legendary Sigi Schmid, but he has not been able to right the ship. Despite big names like Giovani Dos Santos, Jonathan Dos Santos, Jermaine Jones, Romain Alessandrini and Gyasi Zardes, the Galaxy have won only one of their last 15 games.

Key statistic: The Dynamo have won only one of their last seven meetings with the Galaxy. The Galaxy won all three meetings last season, including both games in Houston.

Dynamo player to watch: Vicente Sanchez has started had started only one of the first 28 games, but Saturday’s start may be the first of several down the stretch. Coach Wilmer Cabrera said, ‘This is Vicente’s time’ because of Sanchez’s experience. It will be interesting to see if Sanchez starts again at the No. 10 or if he moves back to the wing.

LA Galaxy player to watch: French midfielder Alessandrini has been one of the Galaxy’s bright spots in his first season. He is one of two MLS players with double digits in goals and assists. He scored the last-minute equalizer in the teams’ first meeting this season.
