I switch between Action Launcher and Nova Launcher Prime…and both can be configured to be like the Pixel Launcher, or otherwise…so…I use one for a while, then the other. Just like changing Wallpaper.BTW: I use the purchased versions.

I'm not the biggest nerd but my phone is as customized like crazy. I think it what andriod users use launchers. Now I used to use GO and now I use Samsung because I have the Note and GO became expensive. Wasn't a fan of Nova but I'll try the Action and see what it has to offer :)!

I've paid for both Nova and Action Launcher, though I've been using Evie Launcher and I love it. Not nearly as many features, but I can't seem to break myself away.

Speaking of icons try making your own with icon Pack Studio for further customization, Chris

It doesn't seem you've really gave Microsoft Launcher a try. Anyway, my top with resume… Microsoft Launcher (fast, nice features like customizable cards, vertical scroll on home screen option, quick toggles from dock, decent alphabetical app drawer, easy settings, free), Evie Launcher (fast, simple, great out of the box configuration, nice search, decent app drawer lists, free, the best for non tech people, late updates), Nova Launcher Prime (customization for everything and some more, expensive, app drawer lacks the alphabetical organization of the others and some flexibility, needs Tesla Unread for notifications badges, needs fresh ideas besides standard Android feel). And that's it. The best thing is all suport backup and restore of app positions on the screen and settings, so changing phone is a breeze. Cheers.

I find the best android launcher would be blackberry launcher which can be installed on any android phone, which I love blackberrys launcher being able to swipe up on a app and able to see a quick widget like for using the apps quicker and see info quicker. And I also use blackberry keyboard which I find is the best.

My favorite launcher is the Go Launcher and in my opinion it's one of the best of all the “top launchers” especially for those who like a slick clean design. I like having folders in my app drawer to at least have the option to have better organization and Go Launcher allows you to do that. I actually bought the prime version of Go Launcher, which I fully recommend and I used it from early 2015 until recently. I didn't quit using it because anything is wrong I just wanted a smaller launcher that didn't take up as much space or resources. I'm currently using Microsoft Launcher (aka Arrow Launcher) because I really like how clean you can make it look especially with the Pixel UI Icons. Microsoft Launcher is just simple and clean. The development team is very responsive. I had an issue couple of weeks ago and I submitted a report and they had an update out and fixed it within an hour.

If you download a new launcher for your Android device you really need to try to keep it for a week or two and really use it and customize it. The default setup of any launcher is never really that good and you don't want to rush to judgment. I like a nice clean look. The way I setup my launchers is NOTHING like how they work by default. So just keep that in mind. If a launcher seems like it might not be right for you dig into it and see if you can customize it so that it works for you. If it never comes around toss it and get another.

For the Microsoft Launcher I don't have anything on my home screen. There aren't other screens on my home screen. I don't use any widgets. You see a nice beautiful wallpaper and a single folder in the center on the bottom dock, which I have set so that it doesn't pull out. When I click the folder it has all of the main apps I use (like the Start Menu) and if I need anything else I click the apps button located in that folder or I can swipe up on my home screen to instantly open the app drawer. If you turn off animations in your developer menu and select performance mode for the Microsoft Launcher you'll have a super clean and fast Android experience. I'm happy with it, but my one complaint is that you can't have folders in the app drawer yet. I have submitted that idea into the built-in Give feedback / Suggest an idea section that you get to by simply long pressing the home screen.

I'll also take a moment to plug the best keyboard app available and that is the SwiftKey Keyboard. There's no way to explain how amazing and useful this keyboard is. It's something you have to try for yourself. SwiftKey is available for both Android and iOS with a few differences. If you wanted to check it out on iOS I hear that it isn't as good as it is on Android and that's really a shame because it is amazing on Android. If you tried SwiftKey before and didn't like it because of the themes they recently released an update that allows you to select a custom background and create your own theme like Google GBoard. No keyboard has better autocorrect and predictive text than the SwiftKey Keyboard. I used it to type this wall of text and the keyboard did most of the work. Once this keyboard learns how you talk the predictive text will absolutely predict entire paragraphs based on the words you're using and how you've used them before. It's like it's reading your mind.

My Favorite launcher was SPB Shell 3D but is no longer around. I used it on Windows Mobile 6.0 and it was made for Android. So now I use Action Launcher on the Note 4. Keep the good tech wisdom coming been watching from Tech TV Days.

I've always hated the stock Android launcher (even more so than Springboard)! I just now started liking the stock Samsung launcher since Marshmallow. But until Android and Samsung started getting they're crap together.. I was using "GoLauncher" (and most of its apps and suits!), for years!! I tried Nova Launcher, but GoLauncher offered waaaaay more versatility and options than anything out there! And as far as the "Microsoft Launcher" that's like the mentally handicapped launcher, no one wants to use.. The only thing that was any good that came from that, was Cortana. But now you can get her for Android, so I'm good!

I still don't understand why the pixel launcher, shipped with your phone, is not good enough for your needs. All these developers strive to make their launchers look like the pixel launcher. I think these launchers are more for people using heavily skinned phones such as Samsung, LG, HTC (basically any other phone out there other than what runs vanilla android).
